Awesome Student in September

Sorry they are a bit late, but here are the AWESOME students of September!!!

The first amazing student from Ms. Voigt’s class is Hanna.  Since the first day of school Hanna has been a great help in the classroom.  She is always prepared and willing to go above and beyond to make sure that her classmates are also ready for the day.  She is excellent at passing out papers at high speed!  Hanna is always in uniform, and always has a great smile along with great personality.  Congrats Hanna on this excellent achievement.
Here are what some of her peers have to say about Hanna:
“Hanna is nice, like really nice”- Jalise
“Hanna is funny”- Haza
“Hanna helped me in math, and is a great friend” – Destiny
“Whenever someone is down, Hanna cheers them up”- Jonathan

The next awesome student of the month is Jonathan! Since the first day of school Jonathan has come into the classroom looking sharp in his uniform.  Whenever Jonathan has a question he makes sure to raise his hand and ask.  Jonathan is a great role model to the boys in the classroom.  He is a hard worker, and tries to achieve high grades.  Jonathan is also part of the technology crew, and helps to make sure Ms. Voigt is all set when using the projector!  Congrats to Jonathan! His classmates have these nice words to say about him:
“Jonathan is very intelligent and delightful”- Jahad
“Jonathan has been a good friend since I’ve known him”- Kaylie
“Jonathan is a very helpful friend”- Abdul
“He is fun to work with when working with partners, he gave great suggestions to my writing”- Noa

The Buffalo Bills- and a lil Extra Credit :-)

This week, under the date, I’ve been putting a lot of quotes and sayings about the Buffalo Bills.  They included:

-Now Do you Bill-ieve?
The Buffalo Bills are currently #1 in their division!
"We look at ourselves as the Island of Misfit Toys. We're players no other team wanted, but we found a home in Buffalo and a front office and a coach who believes in us.” - David Nelson
After throwing 4 interceptions and loosing to Buffalo Tom Brady went home and cut his hair! Haha Boston!
Happy Dressdown Friday AND LETS GO BUFFALO!

There is a reason that I’ve been so excited to write about the Buffalo Bills, its because they haven’t been this good in a very long time.  Sure they haven’t made it to the play-offs yet, and sure they might just not win another game this year (which I hope isn’t true). But they gave the City of Buffalo something to be excited about! Did you notice on the radio, we are not so pessimistic right now? I would like to thank the Bills for that.  Did you notice that Mr. Mike seems to have a little pep in his lunch room walk?  I would like to thank the Bills for that too!

If you talk to your parents you will hear stories about how great the Bills once were, and how it was so much fun to cheer for them. I hope that someday you get to experience that as well.  The Buffalo Bills are fun to cheer for.  It hurts to think that there is an NFL team in the city you are living in, and you would prefer to cheer for another team!

I want to leave you with this little video.  It was something that was up on the scoreboard at the Bills game when we played New England (remember that amazing game??) This video describes the team that I grew up watching.  They were awesome!

Now for some Extra Credit!!!!!!

My favorite player of all time is in this video, if you can guess the correct player by Wednesday October 5th, you will get five points on your next spelling test (YES FIVE FREE POINTS!) All you need to do is write your answer on a piece of paper and hand it to me.  You need to tell the players’ NAME and NUMBER!

Here’s a few hints:

  • He played about the same time that Jim Kelly played
  • He played defense
  • He is best known for wearing a spider-man under-amour sleeve underneath his jersey!
  • They sing his name in the song
  • His name is on the wall at Ralph Wilson Stadium
  • Pay close attention around one minute and fifty-four seconds (SUPER HINT)

GOOD LUCK!!!! and GO BILLS!!!

Edward's Eyes

Look what I found on Youtube!  Its an interview with the author of Edward's Eyes- Patrica MacLachlan. Listen to it below:

I'm really excited that we all had a chance to read the book together.  Normally I like to read the books ahead of the class so that I can prompt questions, but it was neat to read this for the first time with everyone.  I enjoyed the fact that we all made predictions and we were able to use all of our reading skills and strategies to be successful listeners.

We are going to be starting our next read aloud chapter book soon!  Hopefully we will enjoy it just as much as we enjoyed our first chapter book!  Don't forget to take the AR quiz!
